Warming up

Overview

Established in 1981, Pat Flynn Racing is known for having a steady flow of winners to come out of its yard every year since it began. With almost 700 winners, it is one of Irelands most consistent yards.   Our facilities include an all-weather and sand gallop with steep climbs, 2 automatic horse walkers, numerous turn-out paddocks and a 3-phase advanced hay drying machine for perfect hay.  Our racing yard and stud farm, with a combined 110 stables, is spread out over 150 acres and is situated 5 miles outside Carrick-On- Suir, County Waterford.

More Farm Features

All trackwork is done in the mornings at the farm.

Our training grounds feature a four furlong sand gallop and a seven furlong wood-chip gallop.

Starting stalls for young horses.

Two automatic horse walkers.

An enclosed all-weather lunging area.

The range of facilities used by us gives us the flexibility to train horses on an individual basis and provides us with choice when planning a campaign for a horse.

Here at Pat Flynn Racing, we benefit from the making of our own hay. Our grasslands are monitored all year round and when the time comes to make the hay, we save it within 3 days.  This is made possible by using our unique VEDA hay drying machine imported from the U.S.A where it is widely used. The machine consists of a large 3-phase induction motor which sucks in air.  This air is then heated by a gas burner and is  blown through a total of 24 round bales which have been clamped from above and below. The bales are then monitored until they reach 10% dry matter and this gives us the benefit of perfect hay in 2-3 hours whatever the weather.  Our hay is the best and comes off the drier in top-class condition every time.
